- Mistranslations pose the risks of lawsuits and defacement of a professional image.
Levels of Legal Certification
Certification (1st level)
Certification by a human translator is one of the only options for approved translations within the court system. A certified translation entails a good faith clause by the translator along with their signature and sufficient contact information. BBRussian provides these services and any extra certification steps that may be needed, such as:
- Corporate Seal
- Holographic Authenticity Stamps and
- Our American Translators Association Membership
Notarization (2nd level) and County Clerk (3rd level)
The second level of certification is notarization. A notarization is a notary’s authorization (via signature) confirming that the translator printed on the legal document is actually the certified translator they claim to be. Notarizations are frequently requested in many legal settings.
If a legal official still wants more proof then they will request for the notary’s signature to be recognized by the County Clerk for further verification. A County Clerk certification is the third level of certification for legal security.
Notarizations and Country Clerk certifications make up about 1% of mandatory certifications.
Apostille (4th level)
An Apostille is the industry’s final level of certification for legal documents. It is typically used for international legal systems for the highest form of authenticity and security. An Apostille is authorized by the US Department of State and applied to your translation so officials from other legal systems can approve it. We offer this service upon request.
